Probably 2001 or 2002. Maybe. I remember why and how they blew my mind, and how John was part of that. I also remember all the brief conversations about music we had over the years, fresh and weird, and John&#8217;s unmistakeable and inimitable sweetness of character. Who could ever be that sweet and sincere and mean it? John was sincere and gentle the way some people are tall or have perfect vision. It was simply built in. I&#8217;m going to miss John and wish for the rest of my life that I&#8217;d known him better. My thoughts are with all who will miss him. Blake Williams and I spent some time there shooting some footage for one of the films in the <a href="http://vimeo.com/14337511">Flux Films</a> series. The series documents public art projects commissioned by <a href="http://www.fluxprojects.org/">Flux Projects</a>. </p> <p>A contingent of Elsewhere artists will be traveling to Atlanta on October 1 to contribute work to the <a href="http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=143179552390384&amp;ref=ts">FLUX 2010</a> public art even in Castleberry Hill.</p> <p>If you ever make it to Greensboro, if you are ever even close, you must visit Elsewhere. You&#8217;d do yourself a great disservice by passing it up. It is a rare kind of place, singular in purpose and flavor. I&#8217;m afraid my flimsy iPhone photos do no justice to the scale or density of the many arrays of stuff, things, materials and art work that make up Elsewhere&#8217;s three-story menagerie.
